![]() It also proposes solutions for other subjects/faculties and future technological directions. ![]() The report discusses limitations of the system and student feedback. The goal of the system is to be the ‘next best thing to being there’, that is, to replicate a normal laboratory experience to the best possible degree. This report describes a remote laboratory infrastructure that was implemented for the UTS undergraduate engineering course ‘Operating Systems’. It does not eliminate hands-on learning, but rather supplements it. A remote laboratory allows students to perform experiments and assignments from any location that has Internet access. More and more students are working part-time and find it difficult to visit the campus frequently, or they may simply live far away from the university. Another aspect affecting the ability of the university to adequately support student laboratories is the changing demographics of the student population. Reduced public spending on education makes these issues almost impossible to reconcile. Necessary real-estate is hard to find, especially at the UTS Broadway campus. ![]() Growth in the student population and the development of new courses may require enlarging existing laboratories or constructing new ones. The journal aims to promote original research papers in the area of Chaos Theory and Applications (CHTA) to include. The ongoing development of embedded systems technologies results in rapid obsolescence of expensive equipment and development systems. Universities face many challenges in developing and maintaining proximal laboratory infrastructure. They are used to reinforce coursework and material covered in lectures as well as to foster independent thinking. Undergraduate Engineering subjects typically involve students performing experiments and assignments in laboratories as part of their knowledge and skills development.
